For me, photography is not about getting closer to people

it’s a way of trying to understand them.
As I walk through the streets of Istanbul, amid the noise and the crowd, I search for the emotion within a single moment: the distraction in a face, the silence in a glance, the thought hidden beneath a shadow.

In my frame, people don’t look at me; I look at them.
I follow the traces of feelings that appear on their faces, often without them even realizing it.
Because sometimes, within an expression, a posture, or a beam of light, there lies a quiet story of who a person truly is.

For me, photography is not communication,  it is witnessing.
In the chaos of the city, I look for the purest form of emotion a brief moment of stillness in the flow of time.

Benim için fotoğraf, insanlara yaklaşmak değil, onları anlamaya çalışmanın bir yolu.
İstanbul’un sokaklarında, kalabalığın arasında yürürken, bir anın içindeki duyguyu yakalamaya çalışıyorum. Bir yüzün dalgınlığı, bir bakıştaki sessizlik, gölgenin altındaki düşünce hali.

Benim kadrajımda insanlar bana bakmaz; ben onlara bakarım.
Onların farkında bile olmadıkları bir anda, yüzlerindeki duygunun izini sürerim.
Çünkü bazen bir ifadenin, bir duruşun ya da bir ışığın altında, bir insanın kim olduğunu anlatan sessiz bir hikâye gizlidir.

Fotoğraf benim için iletişim değil, tanıklıktır.
Şehrin karmaşasında, duygunun en sade hâlini arıyorum. Geçip giden zamanın içinde kısa bir sessizlik anı gibi.
